Based in Fife — working across Scotland
What we do
- Stone indents, cills, lintels and skews cut and matched to the existing masonry.
- Crack stitching, rebuilds and consolidation of eroded sandstone.
- Careful cleaning that removes soiling without scarring the stone face.
- Conservation-minded methods on listed and traditionally built properties.
Problems we fix
- Eroded or delaminating sandstone on exposed elevations
- Cracked lintels, cills and skews
- Previous cement repairs that have failed and damaged the stone
- Bulging or loose masonry needing rebuild

Questions
- Why use lime mortar rather than cement?
- Traditional stone buildings were built to breathe. Cement pointing is harder than the stone, so trapped moisture escapes through the sandstone face instead of the joint — which is what causes spalling and damp. Lime mortar is softer and breathable, so the wall dries out and the stone survives.
- Do you work on listed buildings?
- Yes. We work with traditional materials and conservation-minded methods. Listed building consent is usually required for external work — we're happy to talk through what your property needs before you apply.
- Do you provide free surveys?
- Yes. Every enquiry starts with a free survey and a written, no-obligation quote. If we don't think work is needed, we'll say so.
- How far do you travel?
- We're based in Fife and work across Scotland, including Edinburgh, Perth, Dundee, Stirling and the surrounding areas. Tell us where the property is and we'll confirm.
Not sure what your property needs?
We'll survey it free and explain the options in plain language.
